THEDAILYBAKE AS THEY CALL IT

I don't have instagram, I have a phone that's 5 years
old and the only one that calls me on it is my man.
I tried getting it on my computer but it only caused a
lot of problems.
I blog instead until someone donates their old iphone.

So here's my #thedailybake

LOW KEY BIRTHDAY

I've had a really good birthday today!
Even tho the plans we made went tits up because my man injured
one of his toes and got gout in the one next to it and he can't walk,
I must say it's been a very pleasant one.
We're going to Prague soon so we'll celebrate properly there.
I woke up early because I was very uncomfortable, went down to
the kitchen and did some housework and prepared some food for
our dinner. My man woke up and we had coffee and he gave me
the sweetest card with the most romantic content ever.
Afterwards I crawled back into bed to check some things on my
computer and in comes my man with a huge package, turns out it
is a case willed with small gifts and if you scroll down you'll see
what I got.

Today's been low key but it was nice to just relax.
I made Swedish style (vegetarian) x-mas food for dinner, tons of
lit candles and Dean Martin playing in the background, I felt like
I just turned 60! LOL!
Skipped the cake today, I made my Caribbean toffee instead.

1940's telephone cord clutch.

Amazing Bakelite bangle.

1950's confetti Lucite sweater guard.

1950's Coro Confetti Lucite necklace.

1950's doorknocker earrings.

1950's rhinestone earrings.

LATEST FINDS

Went to Bucks the other day to look at a possible important
purchase for the future but it turned out to be all wrong so no
go this time.
We decided to make a day of it since we were out & about
already so we scouted the charity shops in areas we passed
on out way home.
Didn't find much but I'm thrilled about my Hanukkah gift that
I got from my man... Scroll down...

Lot of vintage kitsch, £1.80. (approx $2.90)
I was over the moon to find a whole lot of these red flocked deers
for such a tiny sum! Two like these went for quite a lot on ebay UK
the other day!

1950's boat lamp, 50 pence. (approx $0.80)
Clearly a restoration project but still cool!

Stunning 1950's/1960's dress, £18. (approx $30)
Found this in a shop called Kitsch Me Quick and I fell in love with it
on the spot! My man insisted on getting it for me as a Hanukkah gift!

45" rack & table wastebasket/flower pot, £1 each
(approx $1.60 each)
As many 45's as we got these racks are essential!
The wastebasket will be prefect on my hobby desk.

Old bamboo bottle opener & compact mirror with light.
Free!
Because the shop manager loved my hair (faux bangs) and thought I
was a sweetheart.

WELCOME TO MY HOBBY ROOM!

At last!
I finally sorted my hobby room out!
Last time I took pictures (2009) there weren't that much
stuff in there, as you can see here.
It looked like a dump site not so long ago and it took me
an entire day to sort, tidy and clean the place.
I also changed the curtains the other day before our Dutch
friends arrived.
(I got vintage plastic tulips everywhere and tulip barkcloth curtains.)
Now it's a delight to be in there.

FINDS OF THE DAY

Went into town to get some toiletries and to scout the charity shops.
Lately I’ve found nothing and there wasn’t much to speak about today.
I got myself a pair of fruity earrings and a broken Bakelite brooch for
the total of £1.75. (approx $2.80)
I’m going to remove the bits that’s left of the pin and glue a bail on the
back and use it as a pendant.

My favorite bargain of the day is this cute lunchbox that I snagged in
one of this towns many bargain shops for £1.99! (approx $3.20)
Perfect for small outings and road trips. :)
